Julius Caesar, 49-44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 17 mm, 3.95 g, 7 h), with P. Sepullius Macer. Rome, first half of March 44. CAESAR DICT•PERPETVO Veiled and wreathed head of Julius Caesar to right. Rev. P•SEPVLLIVS - MACER Venus standing front, head lowered to left, holding Victory in her right hand and long scepter in her left; to right, round shield set on the ground. Babelon (Julia) 50 and (Sepullia) 5. Crawford 480/13. CRI 107d. RBW 1685. Sydenham 1074. Nicely toned, really well centered, and with a beautiful portrait. Minor flatness and a few tiny marks on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
